::Viomak To Launch Mugabe Album On Saturday

By a Correspondent

LONDON – Zimbabweans in the United Kingdom will on Saturday meet outside the Zimbabwe Embassy where Viomak, Robert Mugabe's staunch musical critic, will release her second album, “Happy 83rd Birthday President R G Mugabe (Bones of a 30 year old)”.

Viomak, a Zimbabwean protest singer who arrived in the UK from Zimbabwe in November 2006 and claimed political asylum, says she will try to hand over to Ambassador Gabriel Machinga, the CD as a birthday present for Mugabe who will be wining and dining thousands of miles away in Gweru as he celebrate his 83rd birthday with youths from the 21st February Movement.

The official launch of the album is slated to coincide with Mugabe's birthday celebrations. Mugabe turned 83 on Wednesday but official celebrations will be held Saturday in Gweru.

Songs on the album include A Man in Zimbabwe, Gono bvisa Father Zero, Arise and Fight, Ipaiwo Vasina, Tererai Mwari, Mangwanani Baba, Mugabe Usambozvinyengedza and Inzwa Mugabe.

As expected of Viomak, the album is loaded with attacks on Mugabe's presidency and his reluctance to relinquish power at a time when economic and political woes continue to affect many Zimbabweans.

Viomak says the title of the album was inspired by Mugabe's 90-minute interview with Newsnet last year on his 82nd birthday during which he revealed that contrary to fears over his health, he felt like a young man, was as fit as a fiddle, that his doctors had told him he had "the bones of a 30-year-old", and would like to live another 82 years.

“This is just my way to expressing my displeasure at the things that are happening in our beloved country because of Mugabe’s leadership so I would be happy if Machinga, Mugabe’s representative here, will accept his birthday present,” said Viomak.

She teams up with the Zimbabwe Vigil to launch the album which comes as a follow-up to her debut album Happy 82nd Birthday President R.G Mugabe (Diaspora classics1: Emotions of the emotionless) released last year.
